Swarovski Lovlots Sunshine Mo, Limited Edition Crystal Cow, ‘Moove’ Date is May 30!

Today, crystal fanatics all around the world (myself included) received an email from Swarovski announcing that the Swarovski Sunshine Mo will be available for purchase (in 23 countries) beginning  May 30, 2011!

The Sunshine Mo crystal cow looks adorable.  She is a very bright yellow crystal figurine wearing a red and pink flower necklace that resembles a Hawaiian lei.  I still think that Sunshine Mo might make a great sister or cousin for ‘Hula Mo’! (hint, hint Swarovski!)

According to the Swarovski web site, they say that this online limited edition is going to be a rare Swarovski figurine.  This then begs the question….does that mean that Swarovski is producing and releasing a much smaller quantity of Sunshine Mo figurines than her predecessors, sisters, and cousins on the Swarovski Lovlots West End?

Here’s for the introductions of the newbie Mo’s limited edition Lovlots relatives:
  • Swarovski Pinky Mo (LE 2007) – transparent pink cow with solid pink horns and bell
  • Swarovski Alabaster Mo (LE 2007.  production quantity limited to 300); solid pink cow with transparent pink horns and bell
  • Swarovski Soccer Mo (LE 2008) – red cow with white horns and ball (NO bell)
  • Swarovski Flower Mo (LE 2009) – green flowered cow with white horns and bell
  • Swarovski Halloween Mo (LE 2009) – orange cow with black horns and bell
  • Swarovski Country Mos (LE 2010) – spotted cows with matching horns and bell
  • Swarovski Glamour Mos (LE 2010) – golden cow and black cow with white horns (NO bell)
  • Swarovski Charming Mo (LE 2011) pink hearted cow with greyish horns (NO bell)

Swarovski Steiff Limited Edition Krystina, Bear available in 2011

Recently, I found a Steiff / Swarovski Limited Edition Bear on the internet and did a short article here on the Kristall Buzz about the bear: Steiff Bear Sapphire is a Limited Edition Bear.

Limited Editino Steiff Bear Krystina
Swarovski Bear, Limited Edition Krystina, decorated with Swarovski crystals

Following that article, I discovered another Steiff Bear decorated with sparkling Swarovski crystal stones.

This new teddy bear is Krystina.  The bear features jet black coat of mohair.  The right bear paw uses over 150 encrusted with Swarovski Elements stones to spell out Steiff.  She wears a collar decorated with over 100 Swarovski crystal stones.   She has a white label with the famous Steiff button in the ear.

Steiff Krystina is a limited edition bear, to be available only in 2011.  The Krystina Steiff Bear can be purchased from the Danbury Mint UK site.

Below are some of the other Limited Edition Swarovski Steiff  Bears produced since 2005:
  • Steiff Crystal – 2005 Limited Edition Steiff Swarovski Bear
  • Steiff Orian – 2006 Limited Edition Steiff Swarovski Bear
  • Steiff Jewels – 2007 Limited Edition Steiff Swarovski Bear

Swarovski Limited Edition Royal Wedding Prince and Princess Ducks

I recently did an article about a Swarovski Limited Edition Pen, a UK exclusive, to commemorate the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.  Since then, I have found more Swarovski Limited Edition memorabilia.

This discovery is for the Swarovski Royal Wedding Prince and Princess Ducks. The Swarovski system # is 1117976.  This pair of Swarovski Royal Ducks is a limited edition set with only 3000 pairs produced.  They are packaged in a single box and retail for approximately $115 USD.

Swarovski Limited Edition Royal Wedding Ducks

Royal Duck Packaging
Royal Duck Packaging Sticker

The Swarovski Royal Wedding ducks are essentially the Swarovski Happy Prince and Swarovski Happy Princess figurines, but wait!  These Swarovski ducks come in a single box.  The Swarovski Happy Prince duck of this pair has the royal wedding date (April 29, 2011) etched on the back of the duck.  The Swarovski Happy Princess duck of this pair has two wedding rings etched on the back of the duck.  This is interesting in that Prince William will not be wearing a wedding ring.

The Swarovski Limited Edition Royal Wedding Ducks can be found in select stores in the UK, including Clifton Collectibles.

Due to the similarities of the Swarovski Royal Wedding Ducks to the Happy Prince Duck and Happy Princess Duck, use caution purchasing these items from private sellers or in online auctions.  Here are the things to look for to ensure you are getting accurately-described Swarovski Crystal Royal Wedding figurines:
  • Royal Wedding Ducks – 2 duck figurines in a single box
  • Royal Wedding Prince Duck – has wedding date etched on his back
  • Royal Wedding Princess Duck – has 2 wedding rings etched on her back

Separate boxes and missing ‘special’ marks are indications that items are being mis-represented as the Swarovski Royal Wedding Ducks.

I’m still watching for additional collectibles that use Swarovski components.  However, as the date is soon approaching, I can imagine that the window of opportunity for manufacturers is quickly coming to an end.

Thank you Phil at Clifton Collectibles for your contributions to this article!

Swarovski Limited Edition Hare in Satin Crystal

Swarovski Steiff Sapphire – Limited Edition Teddy Bear in 2011

Steiff fanatics may be interested in a recently released Steiff Bear decorated with sparkling Swarovski stones.  This new teddy bear is named Sapphire.  The bear features a deep blue coat of silk material.  The bear has paws encrusted with Swarovski crystal Elements stones reflecting a rainbow of colors accenting the sapphire blue color of the bear.

Sapphire is also decorated with a strand of Swarovski Elements to create a choker around her neck.  And of course, she has a white label with the famous Steiff button in the ear. Sapphire is 10″ tall and retails for $280.

Steiff Sapphire is a limited edition bear.   There are only 2000 available.  Each Steiff Sapphire bear includes a numbered certificate of authenticity and is packaged in a special Steiff gift box.  The Sapphire Steiff Bear can be purchased from the Steiff USA site.

Other Steiff Swarovski bears have been produced.  The retired Swarovski / Steiff bears below featured a Swarovski ornament necklace:
  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Daniel’ – 2004
  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Crystal’ – 2005
  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Orian’ – 2006
  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Jewels’ – 2007

  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Flurrie’ – 2008
  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Kringle’ – 2009
  • Steiff Swarovski Bear ‘Twinkle’ – 2010

Swarovski Soulmate Panther – Black vs Moroda

Last month, I wrote an article about the Swarovski Black Panther and its latest rival the Swarovski Moroda Panther, both a part of the Swarovski Soulmate product line.  For the most part, I had two questions:

  1. What is the difference in color between the Swarovski Black Panther and the Swarovski Moroda Panther?
  2. And if the colors are nearly identical, is the value of the Swarovski Limited Edition Black Panther going to decline as a result of a nearly identical release?

Originally, when the article was written, on the Swarovski site, the panther’s color was described as it gleams intensely in Moroda crystal.   It was up to the buyer to figure out what ‘Moroda crystal’ was.

I’m happy to see that Swarovski has expanded upon their description of the color.  A portion of the Swarovski Panther product description states it gleams intensely in Moroda crystal, radiating from a metallic blue to warm bronze and brown-black tones.  I think this still leaves a bit to the imagination, but it does sound like an interesting color, if these dark rainbow tones do come out when displayed in a Swarovski collector’s cabinet.

Swarovski Soulmate Panther (Moroda) Swarovski Soulmate Panther (Clear)
(Pictured above, left to right are the Swarovski Soulmate Panthers:  Moroda Panther, Black Panther, and Clear Panther)

Here’s a quick comparison between the Swarovski Black Panther and Swarovski Moroda Panther if you’re considering a purchase:

  • Availability…
Swarovski Black Panther – Swarovski Numbered Limited Edition (more difficult to locate)
Swarovski Moroda Panther – Brand New 2011, not numbered, not limited
  • Color…
Swarovski Black Panther – Jet Black
Swarovski Moroda Panther – Moroda crystal, radiating from a metallic blue to warm bronze and brown-black tones
  • Where to Purchase…
Swarovski Black Panther – Retired.  Must be purchased on the Secondary Market or Online Auction
Swarovski Moroda Panther –  Brand New.  Can be purchased from the Swarovski web site or any authorized retailer (still not available to purchase in the USA online)
  • Price…
Swarovski Black Panther – Purchase price likely to be $3000 – $4000
Swarovski Moroda Panther – Purchase price $960 (or maybe less if you have a good relationship with your Swarovski store)

If you still prefer clear figurines over colored figurines, the crystal brand is retiring the clear Swarovski Soulmate Panther this year (2011).  The clear cat has a system number of 874 337.  The Swarovski designer credited for the elegant design is Heinz Tabertshofer.  All the Swarovski Soulmate Panther figurines come in a firm case, a cleaning cloth, and gloves.  All retail(ed) for $960.

If you are a feline fanatic, there are other Swarovski crystal wild cat figurines:  Swarovski Tiger, Swarovski Golden Shadow Lion, Swarovski Lion, and Swarovski Leopard.  Most of these feline figurines can be found at the Crystal Exchange America web site:  http://www.crystalexchange.com/ .

Swarovski Bald Eagle NLE Online Ordering Begins April 11, 2011

Swarovski stores have been accepting orders for the Swarovski Bald Eagle from their SCS customers since mid-February.  Beginning April 11, 2011, it will be possible for Swarovski SCS members to place their order online at the Swarovski site.

Swarovski Bald Eagle, Limited Edition for 2011
Swarovski states that this is the largest colored, cut sculpture ever produced by the crystal brand.  I think it will be interesting to see if the ‘color’ excites Swarovski collectors, or if they pass on the opportunity to purchase because they personally prefer the ‘clear’ sculptures.  I hear both sides from our customers.
The Swarovski Bald Eagle is the seventh Swarovski Numbered Limited Edition (of 10,000) issued by Swarovski since 1995.  Previous Swarovski NLE can be generally obtained on the secondary market:
  • Swarovski Eagle – 1995 NLE
  • Swarovski Peacock – 1998 NLE
  • Swarovski Wild Horses – 2001 NLE
  • Swarovski Elephant – 2004 NLE
  • Swarovski Bull – 2006 NLE
  • Swarovski Rhinoceros – 2008 NLE

So if you are an SCS member, you will have another option for ordering your Swarovski Crystal Bald Eagle.  If you are not an SCS member, you can join now, or simply wait 3 months (hoping that they do not sell out to Swarovski SCS members) and place your order online in July, 2011.

Swarovski Sunshine Mo Cow is Mooving to the West End

I just returned home from the Sunshine state after having a nice family vacation.  Wouldn’t you know, I see the announcement for the new Swarovski Sunshine Mo.

The crystal brand states that the Swarovski Lovlots figurine, Sunshine Mo, will be a limited edition figurine available only online.  The launch date is scheduled for May 30.  It will be available in 23 countries, and I’m glad that USA is one of them this Swarovski cow looks mighty cute. With the flower necklace, she could have been “Hula Mo”!

Swarovski Sunshine Mo
Swarovski Sunshine Mo

Swarovski Sunshine Mo will be joining her Swarovski Lovlots cow sisters Swarovski Pinky Mo (Swarovski LE 2007), Swarovski Soccer Mo (Swarovski LE 2008), Swarovski Flower Mo (Swarovski LE 2009), Swarovski Halloween Mo (Swarovski LE 2009), Swarovski Country Mos (Swarovski LE 2010), Swarovski Glamour Mos (Swarovski LE 2010), and Swarovski Charming Mo (Swarovski LE 2011). Swarovski also makes Missy Mo (introduced 2006) and Belle Mo (introduced 2010), but these Swarovski cows are not limited editions.

For more information on the Swarovski Limited Edition Mos, check out the Swarovski Flower Mo article on the Kristall Buzz.

Crystal Exchange America has all the Swarovski Limited Edition Mo crystal figurines on their web site. So if you fall in love with the new Swarovski Sunshine Mo, be sure and check out prior limited edition mos to see if they too are ‘must have’ crystal figurines for your collection!

Swarovski LE Tinkerbell 2008 meet Tinker Bell 2011

Swarovski Tinker Bell (LE 2008), step aside and make room for Swarovski Tinker Bell (2011).  Tinker Bell (2011) is available for purchase at the Swarovski web site, and this is great news for Swarovski fanatics and Disney fanatics alike.
Swarovski Tinkerbell 2008
This new pair of Swarovski Disney characters of Tinker Bell and Peter Pan retail for $300 each.  There is also a title plaque ($55), in the shape of a star, for the duo. The identification number for Swarovski Tinker Bell is 1073747.  The identification number for Swarovski Peter Pan is 1077772.
Swarovski Tinkerbell 2011
While the pictures at the Swarovski web site make this Tinker Bell figurine look rather cute, I do have concerns as to the effects that this new release will have on the value of the Swarovski Limited Edition Tinker Bell that was sold in 2008.
Here are some comparative facts on the Swarovski Tinker Bell, LE 2008 and Tinker Bell, 2011:
Retail price $300 in 2008 (included title plaque).  $300 in 2011.
  • Height4 13/16″ in 2008. 5 1/8″ in 2011.
  • Wings Aurore Boreale in 2008. Crystal Blue Aurore Boreale in 2011.
  • Base.Clear, resembling a waterlily candleholder in 2008. Matte crystal in 2011.
  • Outfit.Clear in 2008. Green Olivine Crystal in 2011.
Since there are now two Swarovski Tinker Bell figurines, Swarovski crystal collectors and Disney collectors have choices when purchasing Tinker Bell.  Collectors should use care if purchasing the 2008 LE Swarovski Tinker Bell.  As there are a number of similarities, the most obvious stand-out feature is the green dress for the 2011 figurine.  Be aware of the differences so that you don’t pay a ‘2008 LE’ price tag for a 2011 figurine with a Peter Pan plaque included.

Swarovski Crystal NLE Hong Kong Art Object sold by Crystal Exchange America

The Swarovski Hong Kong Pyramid is an exceptional sculpture that was in the Swarovski Crystal Home Accessories product line.  The Swarovski crystal figurine that sold in January had a price tag of $900 with shipping cost included.

Are you curious to know how rare or hard-to-find that it may be?  Swarovski produced only 1997 of them from 1997 to 1998.  Each of the Hong Kong Pyramids produced is numbered, that that makes this sculpture a Swarovski Numbered Limited Edition (Swarovski NLE).  The original MSRP of the Swarovski crystal figurine was approximately $1100 USD.

The designer who created the unique sculpture wasTsang Mei Fong.  The designer’s design was a competition winner, where her crystal figurine was selected to commemorate the transition year of Hong Kong.  The Swarovski Part number is 9280 000 035.  The Swarovski system number is 222 858.  This magnificent art object measures 12″ in height and 2″ square at the base.

Swarovski Hong Kong Crystal with Swarovski Identification Label and Designer Inscription

This rare Swarovski crystal is not necessarily hard to find, despite the limited number of production.  Crystal Exchange America presently has 4 listed, ranging in price from $1700 – $2100.  One or two can generally be found in the online auctions near $1200 – $1500.
Illusion looking at Swarovski Hong Kong Crystal through the bottom facet

My advice to Swarovski collectors is to purchase the Swarovski crystal figurines that you really like …ones that tug at your heart.  One never knows what is going to happen in the economy or how well a figurine may sell to make it more desirable or sell for a much higher price in the future.  If this were predictable, we would all be making good investments in crystal and in other market areas.
