Swarovski Vintage Jewelry: Swarovski Savvy History

Following up on our last post on Swarovski Savvy,  I have been able to get a bit more information about the history of the Swarovski Savvy Jewelry line!

The  Swarovski Savvy line was live from 1986 through the end of 1999.  Here is a timeline of the milestones during its years in production:

  • 1986:  Swarovski Savvy was launched in the United States.
  • 1987:  Swarovski Savvy was launched in Europe and Asia.
  • 1995:  Swarovski phased out  the Savvy line in Europe and Asia.
  • 1995 – 1999: Swarovski Savvy line remained available in the United States.
  • 1999:  Swarovski Savvy was merged with the Swarovski Jewelers Collection, so the line  Swarovski Savvy was ended.

eBay presently has  150+ Swarovski Savvy jewelry items in the online auctions.  That includes: Swarovski Savvy Necklaces, Swarovski Savvy Pendants, Swarovski Savvy Bracelets,  Swarovski Savvy Earrings, Swarovski Savvy Brooches, and Swarovski Savvy Pins.  Most of the jewelry has original cards and tags, which is amazing for jewelry that is likely 20+ years old!

Swarovski Savvy – Vintage Jewelry by Swarovski

About a year ago, Crystal Exchange America took in a Swarovski crystal collection for consignment.  There was a good bit of jewelry in the collection, including a few Swarovski Savvy pieces.

There’s really not much known about the Swarovski Savvy product line.  I decided to  peruse through Amazon and eBay to see what I might learn.   Amazon did not show any Swarovski Savvy jewelry offerings.  On the other hand, there were 150+ Swarovski Savvy products that appeared in the eBay search results.

I found Swarovski Savvy Necklace items, Swarovski Savvy Bracelet items,  Swarovski Savvy Earrings, Swarovski Savvy Pins, Swarovski Savvy Brooches, and Swarovski Savvy Pendants.  To my surprise, a lot of the Savvy Jewelry on Ebay still had original merchandise tags.

From various product descriptions and a bit of other research, It appeared that the Swarovski Savvy line was sold mostly in department stores,  like Dilliards (who has also sold some Trimlite-like figurines).  And  I did notice that many original tags indicated “Swarovski full lead crystal”.

Swarovski used a number of different text fonts and styles during its limited production years in the 1990s.  And it seems that Savvy was not trademarked, possibly due to its short lifespan?

Swarovski Limited Edition Jewelry: Swarovski Rice Siam Set

In the past few years, Swarovski has done some online only jewelry exclusives just weeks prior to the Christmas holiday season.  Yesterday, the crystal giant sent out emails about the Swarovski Rice Siam Set, stating that this is a limited edition jewelry set of just 500 pieces and available this weekend only.

The Swarovski Rice Siam Set consists of a necklace and matching pierced earrings.  This limited edition is available online only December 2nd and 3rd at their web site shoppe.  The retail price of the Rice Siam Set (identification # 1193976) is $125.

The Rice Siam Set is rhodium plated with a pave cross shape suspending a red siam crystal stone.  It looks like a nice addition to any holiday outfit for the upcoming holiday parties!

If you like the Limited Edition Swarovski design, but are unsure about the ‘red’, Swarovski does have this same design in other colors!  There one with a light purple feature stone: Swarovski Rice Provence Lavendar Set Limited Online Edition, one with a light blue feature stone: Swarovski Rice Aquamarine Rice Set, and lastly one with a light pink feature stone: Swarovski Rice Vintage Rose Rice Set.  All four ‘Rice Sets’ have a sticker price of $125 each.

Although I don’t recall seeing any official news about Swarovski’s weekend special in advance of yesterday, I believe they there were 3-4 of them in 2010 and 2011, so be sure to watch your email for more Swarovski Limited Edition opportunities in the upcoming weeks!

Swarovski SCS Harmony Brooch: the Clownfish Brooch

The luxury giant Swarovski normally produces jewelry accessories that correspond to each year’s SCS annual editions.  During the Wonders of the Sea trilogy, the company produced the Swarovski SCS Clownfish Brooch.  The Swarovski Clownfish pin, was produced in 2005, the same time as the Harmony figurine displays.

The Swarovski Clownfish Brooch is oval, with a pair of clownfish swimming toward each other.  The brooch is about 1.75 wide.  The fish are reddish-orange with clear pave crystal stripes.  Additional round Swarovski stones are located on the brooch to appear like air bubbles in the sea.  This Swarovski Clownfish Pin was only available in 2005 and could only be purchased by Swarovski SCS members.

The popular Swarovski book, Warner’s Blue Ribbon Book on Swarovski: Beyond Silver Crystal, shows a Swarovski-designated system  number of 1514933.  The Warner’s  assigned a Swarovski ERV of $45 in 2011.

Swarovski Lola and Grace Jewelry

Yesterday, I learned about a new line of Swarovski jewelry with a younger target market.  The new sub-brand called Lola and Grace is in the works geared toward a more youthful audience.  One article indicated a ‘teen market’.  Yet another article suggested young women in their early twenties.  Either way, I’d expect something very trendy and most importantly, affordable by the very consumer they hope to catch.

Apparently, the Swarovski Lola and Grace idea conception was near October, 2010.  For name recognition and brand awareness, the crystal brand launched a website dedicated to Swarovski Lola&Grace.

The Lola&Grace logo features black, white, and berry in a simple circular design. Consumers should expect to see these brand colors on their packaging and stand-alone stores (similar to Swarovski boutiques).  The first store, scheduled to open in March, 2012, will be in London’s Westfield Stratford City Mall.  The Swarovski Lola&Grace web site is also supposed to become an e-commerce site so that the new jewelry products can be purchased there as well.  (I did not find any launch date for e-commerce).

Lola&Grace will produce four seasonal collections that Nina Müller, general manager of the Swarovski brand, says ‘combine the latest catwalk trends with a blend of cultural influences and marries contemporary and vintage design for all occasions.’

In December, 2011, Swarovski uploaded a brief video to YouTube branding their newest line Lola&Grace.

 


The crystal giant has a BUNCH of Swarovski Jewelry on their website.  Their selection presently includes bangles, bracelets, brooches, clip earrings, cuff links, necklaces, pendants, pierced earrings, pins, rings, and sets.  As jewelry, by nature, can be quite trendy, designs retire quicker than items like crystal figurines.  For those looking for Retired Swarovski Jewelry, check out the Crystal Exchange America website.

Swarovski Limited Edition Final Weekend Special: Swarovski Etoile Jewelry

Yesterday, Swarovski launched their final  weekend special  for 2011…a limited edition pendant / earring set.  Swarovski’s advertises the Etoile Set being limited to  500 sets , which are available through Sunday evening or until they are sold out.

This limited edition is the Swarovski Etoile Set.  The set features an asymmetric star on a rhodium-plated chain complete with a pair of matching pierced star earrings.  This Swarovski limited edition set costs right at $150 and should include free shipping.

Curious to know how this limited edition got its name, I googled etoileâ for a definition. Not too surprising, the Miriam Webster Dictionary indicated that it is a foreign term meaning in the shape of a star or the principal dancer in a ballet company.

Swarovski also offers the Swarovski Flicker Charm and the stars on the charm to be very similar to the Etoile star.

With only about 24 hours remaining, be sure and get your limited edition Swarovski Etoile Set ordered soon if this looks like the perfect gift for the Swarovski crystal collectors in your friends and family circle.

Swarovski Limited Edition #1 Weekend Special: Swarovski Eros Jewelry

Yesterday, Swarovski posted their first weekend (of 3 weekends) special, which is promoted as a limited edition jewelry set.  Per Swarovski’s announcement, there are 500 sets available through Sunday evening or until they are sold out.

This limited edition is the Swarovski Eros Set.  This jewelry set is a red pave heart on a silver-colored chain complimented with a pair of matching pierced earrings, identified as Swarovski # 1028256.  The price is $160 for this Swarovski limited edition set.

Swarovski has been issuing email vouchers.  I don’t know if this limited edition jewelry is excluded from the discounts that can be obtained using the vouchers, or if it is exempt from them.

If you like the pendant, but don’t have pierced ears, you may be happy to know that the Swarovski Eros Pendant can be purchased separately.  The crystal giant also offers the Swarovski Eros Charm which can be attached to a bracelet or chain.

Swarovski News: Limited Edition Swarovski Weekend Specials return in 2011!

jewelry products that might make good Christmas gifts.   Also, in the email, was an announcement that they are doing the limited edition weekend specials like they did in 2010. In 2011, starting on Friday November 25, the crystal brand will offer a Swarovski limited edition jewelry item (they say limited to 500 units) that will be available through the weekend or until sold out.  The crystal brand has 3 different jewelry designs that are each offered weekend only.  The second weekend event will begin December 2 and the final weekend event will begin December 9.

From the Swarovski crystal image, it appears that one item is a dark blue pendant.  Another item may be a red pave heart necklace with earrings.  And a final item may be a clear pave star with earrings.  There is no mention of price or in what order the jewelry items may be presented.

This is an online event, and the limited edition offerings cannot be purchased anywhere other than the Swarovski online shoppe.

Swarovski Nirvana Ring Secret Revealed

After writing the last post about the crystal giant’s Swarovski Nirvana Ring secret, I thought it best to share the answer with our Swarovski crystal friends sooner rather than later.

The hidden Symbol in the Nirvana ring is a heart.  If you look into a Nirvana Ring from above you will see a heart – the Symbol of love.

I can only wonder if this was by-design, or if it was notice later in the production life cycle.  I tend to believe that the crystal heart shape was planned in the design.  Hope you enjoyed  the Swarovski crystal mystery question!

The contest question was something like ‘What is the secret behind the 93 facets of the Nirvana Ring?‘  The good news is that I have the answer and I will gladly share it with our Swarovski fanatics friends in a few days.
