Swarovski Flower Mo – Limited Edition Cow Prices still Climbing

Swarovski designed and sold its first cow in the Swarovski Lovlots series, Missy Mo, in 2006.  Missy Mo is clear in color and is still a member of the current product offerings.  After 2006, Swarovski began issuing this same design, changing the color, and offering the colored cows as limited edition figurines.

2009 Limited Edition Cow – Swarovski Flower Mo

In 2007, Swarovski made the first Limited Edition Mo, the Swarovski Pinky Mo.  Pinky Mo is, just as its name suggests, pink in color, with white horns and bell.

In 2008 Swarovski produced its next Limited Edition, Swarovski Soccer Mo.  Soccer Mo was red in color, with white horns and bell.

In 2009, Swarovski collectors were blessed with two Limited Edition Mo: Flower Mo and Halloween Mo.  Swarovski Flower Mo was light green in color, decorated with small rose, yellow, and white flowers, with white horns and bell.  Swarovski Halloween Mo was orange, with black horns and bell.

In 2010, Swarovski produced the Limited Edition cows as ‘couples’: Swarovski Country Mos and Swarovski Glamour Mos.  The Country Mos were clear with brown or black spots and horns matching the spots.  The bells were a golden color.  The Swarovski Glamour Mos were the first cows to NOT have bells.  Instead, the female cow (golden in color) had a pearl necklace and the male cow (black in color) sported a small bow tie.

The individual Swarovski Lovlots cows generally sold for $55 – $75 from the Swarovski web site while the cow pairs retailed for $105 – $120.  However, the best performing Limited Edition cow is certainly the Swarovski Flower Mo.  Flower Mo is unquestionably cute .perhaps that is why it presently sells for the highest prices in the online auctions and at the retired Swarovski dealers.  The present selling prices are incredible for this Swarovski green cow in the range of $275 – $325, which is up (on average) $75 from prices in December, 2010.  The upward spiral in price is unbelievable…is this some indication it may reach $400 by the end of the year?  With more Limited Edition Mo figurines on the horizon for 2011, it will be interesting to see if the Flower Mo prices will continue to rise, or if a 2011 release takes command once it is sold out.

Crystal Exchange America has all the Swarovski Limited Edition Cows and other special edition Swarovski Lovlots crystal figurines on their web site. If the dramatic rise in price is a trend (not just temporary), purchasing sooner rather than later, may be a good idea.

Rare Swarovski Crystal Centrotavola (NLE) sold by Crystal Exchange America

The Swarovski Centrotavola Centerpiece is a rare and unique sculpture that was in the Daniel Swarovski product line.  So you are wondering just how rare it is?  Swarovski produced only 250 of them from 1989 to 1997.  The Centrotavola bowl is a Swarovski NLE. Each of the Centrotavola centerpiece bowls had a numbered certificate (matches the number engraved on the bowl) accompanying the rare figurine.  The original MSRP of the figurine was $5275.

The Swarovski artist credited with the design is Ettore Sottsass.  The Swarovski part number is 9980 000 005.  The Swarovski system number is 155 459.  This magnificent centerpiece measures 10″ in diameter.
There are surprising factors in the sale the length of time listed and the final selling price.  I’d like to think that a Swarovski limited edition figurine of 250 units would definitely hold the original retail price.  And that a Swarovski limited edition figurine of 250 units would have a faster turnaround with respect to how quickly it sells after it is listed on the web site.

This rare Swarovski crystal Centrotavola was listed  on the Crystal Exchange America web site (http://www.crystalexchange.com/) nearly 2 ½ years prior to selling.  Not only that, the list price when it sold was about 33% LESS than the original MSRP.  The Centrotavola bowl was in MINT condition with all original packaging, so condition, certificate, and box did not play a part in the final price.

So what does this mean to Swarovski fanatics?  I believe there are a lot of factors that contribute to whether or not retired Swarovski sells quickly and the final selling price of the figurines.  In this case, I think the biggest factors are the economy and the overall appeal to the collector.  The economy is still weaker, contributing to the overall trading prices on ALL retired Swarovski collectibles.  Since our beautiful Swarovski crystal is not a necessity, people and collectors are spending less money from their expendable budget on it.  While the Centrotavola is certainly a magnificent Swarovski figurine, I think that many collectors still prefer animal-type figurines and sculptures.   My company, Crystal Exchange America, has a much higher turnover rate on animals or cute figurines, than on functional items, like candleholders, bowls, or more artsy-type productions from Swarovski.

My strong recommendation is to purchase the Swarovski crystal figurines that a collector personally likes and will get enjoyment out of displaying.  I used to purchase more Swarovski than I do now.mostly due to the economy and limitations on my budget.  So, it is more important than ever for me to pick my favorite Swarovski figurines when I make that decision to purchase.

Swarovski Jade, Lovlots 2011 Limited Edition Crystal Figurine

Swarovski fanatics will be excited about the upcoming release of the new Swarovski Jade, the Lovlots 2011 Limited Edition!

Swarovski Jade is a Dancing Horse, part of the new Swarovski Lovlots Circus series.  Swarovski Jade is a limited edition crystal figurine available only in 2011. A cute photo of Swarovski Jade and more information regarding launch date (March 7, 2011) is available at the Swarovski web site.

Other Swarovski Lovlots Circus crystal figures that go with Jade, the Swarovski dancing horse, are: Swarovski Benny Bunny, Swarovski Jasmine Dancing Horse, Swarovski Leo Lion, Swarovski Rolly Monkey, Swarovski Rosalie Dancing Horse,  Swarovski Toby Elephant,  and Swarovski Tony Elephant.

Pictures of eight Swarovski Lovlots Circus figurines can be found at the Swarovski web site.  The site also states that they should be available in the online shop for purchase in March of 2011.  There is no mention of the price on any of them.

The Swarovski Lovlots Circus is the 4th series of adorable Lovlots figurines.  The other Swarovski Lovlots are series include: Swarovski City Park, Swarovski House of Cats, and Swarovski Gang of Dogs.  Another “unofficial series” are the Lovlots Pioneers which are initial group of Lovlots figurines.
The crystal brand has previously offered Swarovski Limited Editions in the Lovlots series product line:
  • Ziggy, (Woodpecker)  – Swarovski LE from City Park
  • Theo (Cat) – Swarovski LE from House of Cats
  • Violetta (Poodle) – Swarovski LE  from Gang of Dogs

Swarovski Apollo Bowl, a Colorful Bowl to Display

One of my favorite Swarovski crystal figurines is the Swarovski Apollo Bowl.  Like many Swarovski collectors, I generally prefer the cute animals, but I have always liked this colorful bowl.

The Swarovski Apollo Bowl is a white frosted bowl, with 40 colored stones attached to it.  It is approximately 7. 5″ in diameter and 3″ in height.  The Swarovski designer of the Apollo Bowl is Boris Sipek.

The Swarovski Apollo Bowl was in production for eight years: 1996 to 2004.  During this period, some of the Apollo Bowls were made with numbers on them, and some of them were made without any number on them.  So, I guess some of the Apollo Bowls are Numbered Editions, but they are not Swarovski Limited Editions.  The accompanying paperwork does not make any mention of the individual number on the bowl.

To see if there is a number imprinted on any Apollo Bowl, turn the bowl upside down and look in the center (this is not where the logo and designer name are located).  It is difficult to see since the bowl is frosted.  On those with numbers, I have see numbers under 2000 and numbers over over 11,000.  The number inscriptions begin with SG, and then ’97’, followed by the 4 or 5-digit number.  So it may be that the particular numbered bowl was produced in 1997.

Still recovering from the blizzard and ice storms here, I took my Swarovski Apollo Bowl out into the snow, added a small snowball and clicked a picture.

Crystal Exchange America, at http://www.crystalexchange.com/ does have a new listing for the Swarovski Apollo Bowl, thought it does not presently appear on the web site.  The price is $1750 + shipping.  If this is a Swarovski Crystal Home Accessory figurine you want to own in your collection, don’t wait.  The listings for the Apollo Bowl are becoming more rare as years pass.  (I just learned that the Swarovski ERV for the Swarovski Apollo Bowl in 2011 is $2125, so $1750 just may be a bargain price!)

Swarovski Crystal Designers

The Swarovski Designers of crystal figurines are amazing….the natural talent that they possess, the desire to be a part of the process creating the crystal designs, their inspiration.

Swarovski has launched over 2500 figurines under various product lines, including Silver Crystal, Crystal Memories, Trimlite, Paradise, Disney, and others. While many of the figurines are credited as a team design (meaning that a group of people are given credit for the creation), many others are credited directly to a single designer.
I’m presently aware of about 65 designers credited exclusively for creation of figurines.  This list can be found on the RetiredSwarovski.com web site:  Swarovski Designers.   This listing of Swarovski designers was recently updated.  It now also includes links to the designer profiles on Swarovski’s web site so that Swarovski crystal fanatics can get more information about what makes these designers tick.  Swarovski also has a link to a PDF containing all figurines by the designer.

I’m looking forward to seeing the new Swarovski creations for 2011…..kudos to those Swarovski designers with all the talent!

Swarovski SCS 2010 Annual Edition Tiger

2011 will arrive within minutes.  “Endangered Wildlife”, the final Swarovski SCS Club trilogy, will be concluded as we Swarovski crystal fanatics anxiously await the arrival of Swarovski 2011 SCS Polar Bear Siku to our displays.

The Swarovski 2010 Annual Edition was the Tiger.  The Swarovski Tiger retailed for $450.   Swarovski also offered separate tiger cubs to its Swarovski SCS members.  The Swarovski Standing Tiger Cub retailed for $180. The Swarovski Sitting Tiger Cub also retailed for $180.

The Swarovski 2010 Annual Edition Tiger, Standing Tiger Cub, and Sitting Tiger Cub were designed by Elisabeth Adamer.  The Swarovski video on youtube briefly shows the Swarovski designer and how she began he journey into the development of this Swarovski figurine for the Swarovski Crystal Society members.

Crystal Exchange America commonly has additional information about the 2010 Swarovski Tiger.

Since I like felines, both domestic and wild, I’m delighted with the design and that I have the 2010 SCS Tiger in my Swarovski crystal collection.

Swarovski Myriad – Alsaqr Almalaki

A newer Swarovski Crystal Myriad has been found on the Swarovski web site..it is the Alsaqr Almalaki.  So what exactly is it?  It is the newest numbered limited edition in the Swarovski Myriad series.  The myriad figurine is a Swarovski falcon, in flight, gliding past a natural rock formation.  It features over 43,000 hand set crystals of six different colors.

The designer of this limited Swarovski myriad masterpiece is Elisabeth Adamer.  This magnificent Swarovski falcon is nearly 12 inches by 16 inches by 21 inches.  It has a retail price in the Swarovski online store of $15,500.  It is not clear from the Swarovski site the maximum production number, only that it is a numbered limited edition.  The official product page for the Swarovski Alsaqr Almalaki contains additional details from those mentioned here.

The company has retired Swarovski falcon head figurines. The Optik division also sold a promotional set of Swarovski falcon heads years ago.

There are other Swarovski figurines in the Myriad collection: Swarovski Amurath (stallion), Swarovski Jinlong (dragon), and Swarovski Matang (elephant).  Swarovski Crystal Myriad collection announcements are very interesting.
